Proposed changes to the lighthouse
Friday, 11 February 2005 - The first talks between Gibraltar and
the Spanish Govenrment took place in Malaga, with the UK providing
a silent observer.
The Spanish reiterated their histrionic claim to the territory of Gibraltar, stolen in 1704. The Isthmus, stolen in 1907 and the new hospital built on land stolen in 1987.
In a new development, there was insistance in "Joint Use" of the Lighthouse. It was pointed out, however, that smoking dope is illegal in Gibraltar.
The leader of ecologistas inactión Antonio Monos, said that the lighthouse was illuminating the great CEPSA air purification plant across the bay which needed to be kept in the dark. He was prepared to come to Gibraltar to buy cigarettes and sugar in protest.
